USEFUL INFORMATION FOR EEC BUYERS IN
BELGIUM, LUXEMBOURG & THE NETHERLANDS
Sending wines to you is not complicated or very expensive. Here
is some information for you, however, if you have any questions
not covered here then please contact us.
VAT
VAT (Value Added Tax), is not included in the prices quoted on
this list. Customers from EC countries are charged VAT at the
current UK rate of 17.5% but do not have to pay further home
country tax.
TRANSPORTATION
We have been sending wine overseas for many years and have
concluded that the easiest, cheapest and fastest method of
despatch is by mail for any order less than 3 cases. The wine
will be despatched as soon as payment is received.
Approximate costs are as follows:
A) Euro 48: 2 -3 day delivery time.
1 bottle - £32 2 bottles - £37 3 bottles - £42 6 bottles - £52
12 bottles - £66
B)Express: 1 - 2 day delivery time.
1 bottle - £39 bottles - £45 3 bottles - £50 6 bottles - £68 12
bottles - £95
All the above prices include packing in special strong export
cartons with polystyrene liners.
IT IS NOT SAFE TO SEND WINE OUT IN ORIGINAL WOODEN CASES.
Over the years we have been quite satisfied with the postal
service, through which we have sent many parcels (packed in
export polystyrene cartons) to clients here and abroad. This is
a very good inexpensive and usually reliable service and we will
continue to use it.
An odd few breakages over the years have made it clear that
glass bottles, however well packed are specifically excluded
from any insurance cover by Parcelforce Worldwide.
We must emphasise that casualties are rare but as no
compensation can be obtained we must re-state that parcels which
go by post do so at customers risk for any loss or damage.
For orders in excess of 3 cases we usually ship through a
specialist freight company which is accustomed to moving fine
wines and is familiar with the Customs procedures of different
countries. You may, of course, nominate any carrier you wish,
but we would emphasise that our responsibility for the wine ends
once it is safely delivered to your chosen freight company.
It is extremely important to make certain that the forwarder
receives adequate instructions to insure the wine on your
behalf.
Transportation costs depend upon quantity of wine, value and
destination. We would be pleased to give you an individual
quotation.
STOCK CONDITION
Please note that we are not a broking operation. With very few
exceptions, all wines offered on our list belong to us. Should
you require a stock condition report on levels and labels do let
us know; otherwise you may assume that all wine is in a
satisfactory condition making due allowance for its age. Please
do not take this to mean that in older wines all fills are in
the neck and labels in pristine condition. Age takes its toll on
all of us! However, as most of our older wines are cellared here
in Plymtree they are checked by us prior to release. Any items
found to be in a doubtful state, poor labels, and levels etc.
will not be shipped without your approval.
We are not permitted to inspect wines held under bond, but in
any case we do not consider this necessary as we leave only the
more recent vintages in bond.
PAYMENT
We do not accept credit cards. For full details about payment
please see Terms & Conditions.
CELLARAGE
We are able to store wines purchased from us for either
collection or delivery at a later date. Clients receive a letter
of ownership and in addition all wine is clearly labelled and
kept in a part of the cellar specifically designated for paid
reserves. Storage conditions are good and the cost modest at £12
per annum per case, plus insurance (optional), at 1% of the
replacement value of the wine. If you require further
information then please let us know.
